One more arrest in Baba Siddique murder case, 6 accused identified so far

A third accused in the Baba Siddique’s murder case, Pravin Lonkar, has been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch from Pune, officials said on Sunday evening.
Arrested accused Pravin Lonkar is the brother of Shubham Lonkar, who, through a Facebook post earlier on Sunday, had claimed responsibility for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar) leader’s killing on Saturday, police said.
So far, the Crime Branch has identified six accused in the case.
Dharmaraj Kashyap, Gurmail Singh and Pravin Lonkar have been arrested, while the other three accused- Shubham Lonkar, Shiv Kumar Gautam and Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar are on the run.
The police have launched a massive manhunt for the absconding accused.
As per the police, Dharmraj Kashyap and Shiv Kumar Gautam worked at a scrap shop in Pune, next to Pravin Lonkar’s dairy shop.
It was Pravin Lonkar and his brother Shubham Lonkar, who hired Shiv Kumar Gautam and Dharmaraj Kashyap to carry out Baba Siddique’s killing, police added.
On Saturday, three assailants came on a vehicle, with their faces covered with handkerchiefs reached near Baba Siddiqui’s office.
Before anyone could understand anything, Shiv Kumar opened fire on him with a 9.9 mm pistol. Police said that a total of six rounds were fired, one of which struck Siddique in the chest, causing him to collapse on the spot.
Following the shooting, Siddique was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra (West) for treatment but was declared brought dead by doctors.
